The common means for conducting business activities in a host country is through investment contracts, which are commonly
known as economic development agreements. Economic Developing Agreements play a veritable role in developing countries especially states that have the resources for its
development but lack the skill, capital and technology technical know-how as we often call it – to bring those resources to its maximum use and benefits to advance that state to high status, thereby bringing it closer to developed countries. This work will thus examine the nature of economic development agreements and the legal regime governing same. In doing so, we shall look into the history and nature of economic development agreements and determine what laws that are designed to govern or regulate such agreements.
